Invygo Review: My Experience with UAE car rental subscription

Let me tell you a reality that we all face — the process of renting a car is a bit overwhelming. There’s so much to think about: deposits, maintenance costs, insurance, hidden charges and the nagging fear of what happens if things don’t go as planned.

I found myself in need of a car when i joined a company and there was no proper public transport to the workplace. My company agreed to provide one—or more accurately, they told me to rent one myself, and they’d cover the cost.

While I was okay with the arrangement, I had zero experience with car rentals. So, I started researching car rental and subscription services to find a reliable option. After reading a few reviews, Invygo caught my attention, and I decided to give it a try.

Invygo Review: My Honest & 1st Car Rental Subscription Review

I’ll admit, I was intrigued but also a bit sceptical. The idea of a car subscription service that promised to be completely hassle-free sounded great, but let’s be real—how often do things actually go as smoothly as advertised? The thought of skipping the usual stress of car rentals or ownership was tempting, but I couldn’t shake the “what’s the catch?” feeling.

After going back and forth, I figured, why not give it a shot? Worst case, I’d have a story to tell. Best case, I’d find a solution to my car troubles. So, I took the plunge and signed up with Invygo, hoping it would live up to the hype. Here’s how it all played out.

Booking My Car: Smooth and Simple but…

I downloaded the app on my phone and signed up. The app was good, with just a few taps, I was browsing through their extensive range of cars. From budget-friendly hatchbacks to luxurious SUVs, there was something for everyone. I ended up selecting Mitsubishi ASX—it fitted my needs and budget perfectly.

The booking process was smooth. All it needed was my Emirates ID, driver’s licence, home-country driving licence and a debit or credit card. No lengthy paperwork, no unnecessary hurdles and i was looking forward to this. After all, who has time for all the paperwork in the digiatl age. Within minutes, my subscription was confirmed, and I received a notification about to get your car.

Wait! You will be asking, what do you mean by “Get your car”?

Delivery Day!

For my first booking, I opted to pick up the car myself from the airport. In hindsight, this wasn’t the best choice—it ended up being a bit of a hassle. I spent about two hours at their office, which wasn’t ideal.

So here’s the real scoop: Invygo is more like the Uber of car rentals. They don’t actually own the cars themselves—instead, they act as the middleman, renting out vehicles from their network of partners through their app. When I booked my car, I discovered their partner’s office was located at Dubai Airport, Terminal 3, right in the arrivals section. If you’ve ever been there, you’ll know it’s where all the major car rental companies are lined up, side by side.

However, once the paperwork was all sorted, the handover process was smooth. In fact, the partner’s second office was conveniently located right in the parking lot of Terminal 3. They did a quick inspection of the car for any physical damage, which was noted down on a sheet, along with the fuel gauge readings and a list of the car’s equipment. One copy of the sheet was handed over to me for my records, and when it was time to return the car, they’d compare it against the original inspection.

And that was pretty much it. I was handed the parking receipt for the exit, and Yallah! just like that, I was off!

I kept the car for a month without any issues, except for, it didn’t had a display unit. I really wanted a car with a display unit for navigation using Android Auto and a rear camera, which my current ride didn’t have. Unfortunately, the same model with those features wasn’t available currently with the partner company through Invygo, so I decided to swap it for something that ticked all the boxes.

The Swap Option 🔄 & My 2nd Rent A Car

Yes! Be surprised. Invygo offers a swap option! After 30 days, you can swap your car for any of the available options in their inventory. The best part? Any differences in subscription charges—whether higher or lower—are neatly adjusted in your bill. So, I figured, why not take advantage of it?

In my second month, I decided to switch things up and swapped my car for a different brand. I went for the Geely Coolray, a model that caught my eye. This time, I opted for the home delivery option, and I have to say, the experience was worlds apart from my first one. A friendly concierge arrived right within the scheduled time frame, and we went through the paperwork on the spot. There was a brief moment of waiting while they confirmed a few details with the office—like the digital signature and all the formalities—but it was still way more convenient than my initial airport pick-up.

The concierge gave me a quick rundown of the car’s features, and we did the usual inspection together. The car was spotless—freshly cleaned inside and out. It honestly felt like stepping into something brand new, despite it being used (just 23k on the odometer!). It was such a relief to skip the usual airport or rental agency experience, where you have to deal with long waits, paperwork, and the back-and-forth of checking every little detail. Having it delivered right to my door and getting everything sorted on the spot was definitely a game-changer.

What i liked about Invygo

I chose Invygo primarily because I wanted to avoid the usual paperwork and extra hassles that come with traditional car rentals. No deposit, no long forms, just a quick and easy process—those were my main concerns, and Invygo ticked all the boxes. Another standout feature for me was the swap option. It’s such a game-changer! You’re not stuck with a car you’re not enjoying anymore, and you can switch it out for something new after 30 days. This flexibility really added to the appeal of the service.

Aside from the easy sign-up, there are a few perks that I appreciated, like the included insurance (both standard and full coverage options), regular servicing, and roadside assistance. They even keep you updated on your car’s servicing schedule—when you’re getting close to hitting the mileage limit, they’ll swap your car out for one that’s ready for the next stretch. I didn’t personally experience much roadside assistance, but I did have a situation where my car’s battery needed a jump-start. I called their support, but unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get through to anyone. While it was a bit of a setback, I can’t fully judge based on just one instance.

A Few Challenges Along the Way

Of course, it wasn’t all perfect. There were a few things I noticed that could be improved. For one, the availability of certain cars can be a bit hit or miss. For instance, when I was looking to book my second car, I had my eye on the Geely Coolray. But just a few days before I was about to book it, the car disappeared from the inventory. Turns out, it was a limited model, and someone else had snagged it before me. I ended up waiting and checking back for a couple of days to grab it, which was a little frustrating.

Another thing to keep in mind is that some cars aren’t available in every city across the UAE. For example, a model might be available in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, but not in Sharjah or Ajman. If you’re having trouble finding a specific brand or model, I found that you could simply change your city in the app and check availability in another one. It’s a little hack I stumbled upon, and it saved me some time when I was looking for the right car.

My first booking did come with a hiccup. I noticed they had charged me twice for the subscription. I contacted their customer support team, who quickly reassured me and resolved the issue. The delay in getting the refund was more on the bank’s side than theirs, so I wouldn’t hold it against them.

One thing that left a sour taste, though, was the parking fine situation. I got fined AED 165 for parking without paying the fee, which I completely accept was my mistake. However, Invygo added an extra AED 60 as an admin fee, bringing the total to AED 225. That felt excessive and was a bit disappointing.

Lastly, since Invygo operates as a middleman between you and the car rental partners, the prices tend to be a bit higher than what you might find at a regular rental agency. We’re talking about an extra 100 or 200 AED for the same models. It wasn’t a huge deal for me, but I did wish the prices were a little more competitive. If they could bring those down just a bit, Invygo would definitely be the best car rental service around.

Would I Recommend It?

After two months of using Invygo, I can confidently say it’s a service I’d consider using again. The convenience it offers, combined with the flexibility and transparent pricing, makes it a refreshing alternative to traditional car rentals.

While it’s not perfect—it does makes car subscriptions easy and stress-free.

If you’re curious, I’d suggest trying it out for yourself. Sometimes, the best way to understand something is to experience it firsthand, and Invygo definitely delivered on that front for me.
